Kepenmooonk Wunne - Corn Harvest at Pequiog Farm

October 5th-6th, 2025

This year, No Loose Braids joined our relatives at Pequoig Farm for another beautiful Kepenmooonk Wunne harvest gathering. We’re deeply grateful to Pequoig Farm for hosting this space and for their reflection on the weekend.

The gathering brought together relatives from across nations and returning staff members to spend time with the corn and the land. Together, we honored our elders — Elder Millie, who nourished everyone with food and prayer; Elder Strong Eagle, for his music and firekeeping; Fred Freeman, for sharing his guidance and humor; and Elder Liz Santana of Chaubunagungamaug, who made the journey to join the harvest.

We also give thanks to The Farm School cooking crew for their generosity in preparing and donating food to the community store — nourishment that carried us through the weekend and beyond.

Our gratitude extends to the Nipmuc community and our allies, whose enthusiasm and care make this work possible. Many hands made for light work, and every year we are reminded how strong our connections grow through shared stewardship and joy.

Kuttabotomish to
Pequoig Farm for hosting and to everyone who came out in reciprocity with the land. We look forward to next year’s harvest and the continued weaving of our communities together.
